OPEN SPACE is a street art initiative that aims to inspire men and women as equal contributors to a healthy society, economy, and political system. As part of OPEN SPACE, Kevin Ledo joined forces with young adults in Zarqa, Jordan to discuss issues of importance to them on the topic of gender. Collaboratively they painted messages and ideas to INSPIRE COURAGE from one generation to the next on gender issues. The resulting piece is a constant reminder from the community, for the community that a healthy society values the contributions of both men and women equally.

Kevin Ledo in Creation of ‘Swazi Boy’ Painting on Remigio Pereira’s Guitar from Kevin Ledo on Vimeo.

A glimpse at Kevin Ledo at work on his painting “Swazi Boy.” Oil paint and 22kt gold leaf on guitar.

The artwork was painted on musician, Remigio Pereira’s guitar. Pereira is a member of the musical group “The Tenors.” The guitar and the painting on it was donated by Pereira and Ledo to be auctioned off to raise money for the Bulembu Foundation, an organization created to help the people and town of Bulembu, Swaziland in Africa. The sale at the auction raised a significant amount of money and was a success.
